Illustration of the traditional Japanese story, in which a fisherman saves a turtle who transforms into a princess. The princess and fisherman fall in love, and he joins her at her kingdom under the sea. When he wishes to visit the shore again, she gives him a box that must not be opened. Once he reaches the shore, he discovers 100 years has passed, opens the box, and dies as his old age catches up with him.
